President's Letter from Barbara Mark, Ph.D. |
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Q4 and the anticipation that the economy is turning around and beginning to have a positive impact on your business! Women business owners have strongly held their own during this recession with discipline, mutual support and visionary business leadership. Kudos to each of you for hanging in there.
I am pleased to announce that we have two new Board members. Cara Hale Alter is the president of SpeechSkills. Edith Yeung is the Executive Director of BizTechDay, and San Francisco Entrepreneur Meetup Group. Cara and Edith are the co-chairs of our programs committee. Please feel free to contact them with your ideas for future programs.
We are strengthening our relationships with other organizations in the Bay Area in order to give our members enhanced opportunities for developing relationships that lead to business with members of these affiliate organizations. On October 15th, we presented NAWBO-U at the SFHCC Latina Breakfast. Our panel members shared expertise about how to grow a business in a down economy and how to use procurement and supplier diversity to get contracts.
We are also invited to an SFPUC event on October 22nd. You will hear from members of the Public Utilities Commission about what contracts are coming up that will open up opportunities for our members. You will be able to ask questions and get information about certification and how to do business with the SFPUC. Learn more here.
Our Holiday Bazaar this year will be held at the beautiful First Bank penthouse in cooperation with the GGBA and the Renaissance Center. Stay tuned for details!
And, don’t forget BizTech Day next week! Edith is offering a deep discount to NAWBO members. See here for details.
Thanks for being a part of NAWBO-SFBA – your home for women business owners.
Warm regards, Barbara Mark, Ph.D. President NAWBO®-SFBA
